Ms. Miki Hamada started learning the violin at age three, the piano at age eight, and graduated from Aichi Prefectual University of Fine Arts and Music, receiving an award from the Aichi prefectual governor. She later studied violin at Institute Europeo in Florence, Italy.
She has taught violin at Nagoya Music School, conducted a music class in Aichi and also organized a student string orchestra. She has performed as a guest soloist in Japan and Italy and was a member of various chamber music group
and orchestras. She also participated in the Nice International Music Festival in France, the Bowdoin International Summer Festival in the U.S and a music festival in Florence, Italy.
She has studied the violin under professors Michael Vaiman, Yoshiko Okayama, Lewis Kaplan of the Juilliard School, and Ignace Jang.
Ms. Hamada specializes in teaching fundamental techniques and is an active performer as well as a dedicated educator. She especially enjoys attending concerts and recitals featuring her former students who have become successful professional violinists. She arrived in Honolulu in 2012, and is currently the 1st violinist with the Maui Pops Orchestra and the Concertmistress for the Oahu Civic Orchestra.
